Grace Loves Lace and Henna for a Handmade and Bohemian Wedding on a Boat

It is so representative of the gorgeous couple it celebrates, emphasises fun and lets the beauty of love shine through in a natural and joyous way. Todays texture filled, colourful love-fest just embodies all that I cherish about wedding days. Theen, a teacher, married Carla, a social worker at my new favourite venue, Battersea Barge in London on 4th June 2016. Surprising and kooky venues add such an extra layer of intrigue and uniqueness to your day, did you see the old swimming baths wedding I shared a few weeks ago? More bliss-filled whimsy.

The couple knew having been to a friends wedding the previous year on Battersea Barge was right for them. The boat became a floating world dedicated to Carla and Theen, with friend Amelia making bespoke stationery and signage, and Carla and her mum making 100 metres of bunting and feather decorations. The overall effect is warm, creative and fun and certainly makes for some stunning shots from Orchid Falls Photography. Carla looks like the epitome of a beautiful bohemian bride in her Grace Loves Lace gown and headpiece by our Little Book For Brides member, Minna.

“We wanted a bohemian ‘outdoor’ feel but weren’t brave enough to do an outdoor wedding in rainy England. It needed to avoid most of the formal wedding stuff and not be too matching as it isn’t really us.”wedding.”

Carla rocked the ‘Jasmine’ dress from the wonder that is Grace Loves Lace. This Australian brand hand makes the most breathtakingly unique bridal wear in European lace and we have had many a beaming bride grace this blog in their creations. Total meadow-wandering loveliness.

Carla’s fabulously chic shoes came from Harriet Wildeand complimented the lace on her gown perfectly.

I’ve never seen a veil with matching floral headband before, but this beauty from Minna is pure magic.

Carla and her Dad caught a black cab to the Barge, and as the couple had decided not to do speeches, her Dad then did a reading during the ceremony.

They walked down the aisle to the rousing sounds of Canon in D played on guitar by acoustic duo Valentina. I love picturing the rocking of the boat as Theen and Carla promised forever to each other.
