Happy Thursday!! It’s warming up outside but today’s engagement takes us back to the time when it was cold out and you wanted to snuggle close with your honey. It’s crazy to think that just a few weeks ago we were experiencing this. It took place in Chicago, which is not far from me and it looks like so much fun. I’m so excited to share this cute e-session from Michael Chilcott Photography and congrats are in order because they are getting married next week.
From the couple: We have been together for six years, and are over the moon to be engaged! We had our engagement pictures done on Saturday at Willistead Manor. It was -20 degrees Celsius (-4 Fahrenheit) and both ourselves and our photographer were freezing our buns off! We managed to get some really great shots in the snow, and then headed to a local coffee shop to warm up.

Tell us about your first meeting..
Courteney: We actually met online, Matt asked me to go for a walk with him by the riverfront and I stood him up the first time! I finally got the courage to meet him, and we had an instant connection. We walked the entire length of the riverfront, and talked for hours.
Matt: I asked her to go for a walk with me by the river. I was so nervous but once we started talking I felt at ease. I wanted to ask her out on a second date right then but I waited until later in the nightto call her.
Tell us about your First Date…
Courteney: He took me to a hobby farm called Colasanti’s, and we got lunch, and walked around the grounds. We took turns feeding the animals (goats, horses, rabbits) and my outfit got covered in
Matt: I took her to a little farm in the country and we got coffee and talked. I hadn’t been to the farm since I was a kid and wasn’t sure if it would be a good date spot but we had a great time.
Tell us about your First Kiss…
Courteney: Our first kiss was at the hobby farm. We were playing mini golf, and Matt decided to make a bet that if he won, he could kiss me, and if I won we could get little donuts from the bakery. Well, needless to say, he won, but I still got my little donuts.
Matt: I tried to be smooth- I made a wager while we were playing mini golf that I got to kiss her if I won.
Tell us about the proposal…
Courteney: I took Matt on a long weekend trip to Chicago for his birthday. On our very last day we went to the Shedd Aquarium, and Matt pulled a ring out of his pocket, got down on one knee and proposed. It was a simple moment, just the two of us, and it was totally unexpected. I was in shock, but am absolutely over the moon to be engaged!
Matt: I knew I wanted to propose in Chicago, and had the ring in my pocket the entire weekend. I almost proposed at a Chicago Cubs game the night before but got cold feet and decided to wait. After we had walked through the Aquarium and were walking back to the car, there was a tree in a shaded area. I asked Courteney to take a walk with me, and got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. It was the single most nerve-wracking moment of my life!
